The CVMA’s disaster response program operates under the California Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps and provides veterinary professionals with the training and credentialing necessary to support animal health and public health emergency response.
On May 22, 2009, the CVMA registered the California Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps (CAVMRC) under the Office of the Civilian Volunteer MRC. The CAVMRC provides veterinary professionals with the training and credentialing necessary to support animal health and public health emergency response. The CVMA’s disaster response program now operates under the CAVMRC.
The CAVMRC is a Medical Reserve Corps Unit under the California Emergency Medical Services Agency and works in cooperation with a broad range of entities. Anyone on the veterinary practice team can participate – veterinarians, veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, office managers, and all support staff members, students in veterinary medical programs, and retired veterinary professionals with a current license.
If you are interested in joining the CAVMRC, please complete and submit the Disaster Healthcare Volunteers Quick Registration Form and email it to the CAVMRC at staff@cvma.net or fax 916.646.9156.
